Fire Detection for Solar Farms

AP Sensing is your global solution provider for fiber optic Linear Heat Detection (LHD). The LHD system is a proven fire detection system in special hazard applications. Based on a proven track record our solution ensures reliable asset protection even in the most challenging environments. AP Sensing’s fiber optic LHD system is ideally suited to monitor temperatures of power plants (photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage power plants, power cables) to detect overheating at an early stage that could otherwise lead to fires. Information can be sent to operators for immediate action or to the fire alarm control panel (FACP) in case of a fire alarm.

Our fiber optic LHD measures a complete temperature profile of the entire solar farm (including panels and in- and outdoor power cables) within seconds with just one sensor cable. Hotspots can be detected quickly and precisely (freely configurable spatial resolution), enabling fast and targeted measures to contain fires or even prevent fire breakouts. The fiber optic sensor cable is immune to electromagnetic and environmental influences, very light, Ø 4mm, flexible, easy to install, maintenance free and has a long lifetime. The LHD sensor cable can be installed both during and after setting up the solar panels.

Perimeter Intrusion Detection

AP Sensing's Distributec Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system is a reliable long-range solution that provides early warning of perimeter activities.The technology utilizes a single fiber optic cable as a sensor to capture unusual events, such as potential fires or Third-Party Interference (TPI) activities.It can often be integrated with other security measures such as cameras or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Our unique machine learning algorithms precisely detect, locate and classify multiple events in real time. The DAS system can be installed on a perimeter fence to detect climbing or cutting, or buried to detect approaching footsteps or vehicle activity.
