FOSA Webinar Highlights: Scaling Fiber Optic Sensing for Critical Energy Infrastructure

COVER_~1

After a highly engaging session hosted by the Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), industry professionals now have the opportunity to revisit key insights from the webinar “Scaling Fiber Optic Sensing for Critical Energy Infrastructure.”

Featuring AP Sensing’s pipeline monitoring experts Dr. Wissem Sfar Zaoui and Dr. Alex de Joode, alongside Dr. Paul Dickinson from Smart Infrastructure Solutions, the session explored how Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is transforming pipeline monitoring at scale.

At the center of the discussion was the BRUA pipeline project which was recently recognized with the 2025 FOSA Project of the Year Award. The speakers shared how Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) enables reliable third party intrusion (TPI) detection, supports precise pipeline inspection gauge (PIG) tracking, and enhances fiber health monitoring. The deployment also demonstrated how DAS-based Temperature Gradient Sensing (DTGS) for leak detection delivers actionable insights across nearly 800 km of critical infrastructure.
