DAS For Water Transmission Pipelines in the Middle East

AP Sensing is monitoring several ongoing projects in a major program of pipeline schemes planned to transport potable water from new desalination plants across Saudi Arabia. Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is a necessity for these large water transmission pipelines in order to detect third party intrusion (TPI) events or construction activities, as well as to provide leak detection.

The client is a Saudi Government Corporation responsible for the desalination of seawater, supplying various regions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with desalinated water and producing electric power.

The project requirements include the automatic detection and classification of any TPI or construction activities in the vicinity of the pipelines, a low false alarm rate, and the detection of pipeline leaks and related leak locations.
