Wet Oil Pipeline Monitoring Utilizing Advanced Leakage Detection Techniques

AP Sensing is monitoring a complex project involving two buried, wet oil pipelines utilizing Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) systems for leak detection for our customer, Wintershall-Dea. See below for this case study.

Utilizing gradient-based and machine learning transient leak detection, our technology overcomes the main challenges of the project including the existence of different sensing fiber types along both pipelines and a differing configuration between the two pipelines. While one pipeline is thermally insulated, the other is not and therefore the temperature fluctuations of the pipeline would reach the sensing cable and influence traditional leak detection capabilities. Our advanced leak detection techniques eliminate these effects while retaining high detection capabilities and a low false alarm rate. Read this brand new success story here.
